The whippet adventure started in 1981 when Brenna's Santana came to live with us. She was from the famous English Dondelayo lines by Int.Nord. Ch. Dondelayo Jonty & Nord.Ch. Dondelayo Spellbound. Unfortunatly she did not produce any puppies, but she completed her N SF CH title. She was tragically killed in a car accident too early.
The adventure as breeders started with N S CH Red Brindle Blanche. She was born in 1981 and gave us some lovely offsprings. The rest is history!
About us:
Hanne Thorkilden has lived with different breeds since 1972. She started up in labradors, 7 altogether, and a small scale breeding under the prefix Muddler's. Later on maltese and curly coated retriever entered her houshold. In 1981 we chose to co-own the whippet Brennas Santana. In 1984 N S Ch Pendahr Penelope entered her life and Hanne and Ingunn became partners in Pendahr Whippets. Hanne is a clever dog trainer and has experience from blood tracking, retriever hunting, obedience, lure coursing, breeding and shows. Still daily life and long walks in the forest has always been the most important thing.
Ingunn Ohrem started her whippet life in 1981 with the co-owned Brennas Santana. N S CH Red Brindle Blanche came into her life later the same year. She proved to be a successful brood bitch and one whippet quite suddenly became a small pack! There has been no other breeds in her houshold as whippets have been the perfect match. Daily life, hiking in the mountain and skiing with the dogs have been important activities from the beginning. Dog shows, agility and obedience courses, blood tracking and breeding have also been important activities.
Katrine Hodne joined the Pendahr team in 2020 after buing two dogs from us. We quickly realised she was an extremely talented handler and with an enourmous interest in whippet. Katrine grew up with hunting dogs and got her own dog at the age of 14. She has lived with cavaliers, italian greyhound and from 2004 afghan hounds. This was the start of her interest in dog shows. The first whippet arrived in 2012.
Our cooperation is based on a common interest and love for the breed mixed with seriousness, trust and a lot of pleasure!
Despite many years in the breed we do not produce many litters. We think «quality before quantity». We have a passion in following up every litter as far as possible and lots of lovely puppy buyers have become new friends. We feel very privileged and humble to participate in this hobby which of course has become a life style with contacts and friends all over the world. Our aim is to breed healthy whippets with a lovely temper and outline according to the breed standard.
